OREANDA-NEWS. The final of the 5th International Contest of Scientific-Educational Projects “Energy of the Future-2007” finished in Moscow on Apr 20. The finals took place on Apr 14-20 in the framework of a session of Children’s Nuclear Academy. The awarding ceremony was preceded by debates “Nuclear Energy - Strategic Prospects for the Youth” for the finalists and the team of the school No232 of Moscow - the winners of the Moscow debate championship “Risk Zone”.

The debaters supported nuclear energy development and pointed out that the nuclear energy industry is quite attractive for the youth in both financial and educational terms. Now that the whole world is experiencing nuclear renaissance, Russia should actively develop its nuclear energy especially as it has a huge scientific basis and high experience in the sphere.

The debaters also discussed problems of energy, ecology, radioactive waste treatment, nuclear safety control.

After the debates the winners of the contest were awarded diplomas and the “Nuclear Academy Expert” certificate.The director of the Information and Public Relations Center of Rosenergoatom (the sponsor of the contest) Ashot Nasibov expressed conviction that in 2050 too nuclear energy will be the basis of Russia’s energy system. “We hope that by that time many of you will already work in the nuclear power industry and this sector will become the front of your future activities”.

The key goals of the contest were to reveal talented youths wishing to master a wide spectrum of professions in the nuclear power industry and to help students in their professional education and personal development by involving them in scientific-education projects under supervision of nuclear power professionals.
