OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. It was decided to construct two PC-fired power units with the capacity of 300 – 330 MW at the site of Serovskaya GRES (power plant) (Sverdlovsk Region) based on the Preliminary Feasibility Study prepared by SibCOTES. At present, a tender for selecting an EPC Contractor is being carried out. EDS Holding has already become the EPC Contractor for land clearing.

SibCOTES and OGK-2, the Customer, signed an Agreement for the power distribution system design. In 2006 – 2007 SibCOTES developed the Preliminary Feasibility Study for the construction of an electricity generating facility at the site of Serovskaya power plant. The project was implemented within the Mechanism of Guaranteed Investments based on the tender announced by RAO UES of Russia. Three possible options were considered to construct power units with the application of boilers with different equipment arrangement and combustion technologies:
CFB boiler;
T-layout and tower-type boilers for Ekibastuzsky coals;
Tower-type and Circular Furnace Boilers for Kuznetsky coals.

The project considers the possibility to improve cost efficiency of the new power units through the optimization of the boiler cycle arrangement, the improvement of boiler and turbine designs, increase in live steam temperature and reheat temperature downstream the boiler, the application of a turbine economizer.
The new electric power facility at the site of Serovskaya Power Plant will allow the region to cover power shortage and improve power supply security.
