OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2007. The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine permitted to Podol Cement, controlled by CRH corporation (Ireland), to purchase Belayatserkov Reinforced Concrete Structures OJSC from the companies owned by Alexander Edin, UFC-Capital reports. Alexander Edin, the Party of Regions member and a founder of Inter-Contact financial and industrial group, has got rid of his one more asset. After selling Zaporozhie Semiconductors to Ukrpodshipnik corporation (owned by Sergey and Andrei Kluev) Mr Edin sold his Belayatserkov Reinforced Concrete Structures OJSC. The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine permitted to Podol Cement, controlled by CRH corporation (Ireland), to purchase more than a 50% stake in Belayatserkov Reinforced Concrete Structures OJSC. The latter is specialized in manufacture of power transmission line supports, communication line supports and reinforced concrete structures for open substations used in power networks of Ukraine and CIS-countries.

The structures owned by Mr Edin expressed their desire to get rid of the reinforced concrete structures producer at the end of 2005. At that time they commenced negotiations with Ilitash production association that was consolidating assets in the reinforced concrete structures business, controlled Igor Shkira, another member of the Party of Regions. The obstacle for the deal became their disagreement in price and after the long-lasted bargaining the negotiations were stopped. So, Mr Edin started looking for another buyer and it became a concrete producer. Belayatserkov Reinforced Concrete Structures OJSC will perfectly fit into the business of CRH corporation (Ireland). CRH already possesses the third cement producer in the country – Podol Cement OJSC and two specialized quarries – Bekhovski and Popelnianski (both – Zhitomir region). Bekhovski specialized quarry produces road stone and crushed stone, and Popelnianski – rubble and crushed stone.

The shareholders of the company are: Alexander Edin (owner of Inter-Contact group) and Alexei Goncharov (its president) (8.6% each one), as well as Nikolaevskaya Heat and Power Station LLC (Kiev), controlled by Inter-Contact – 49%.
