OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2007. The Republican unitary enterprise “Byelorussian Steel Works” became a laureate of the III-rd International quality tournament of the central and eastern European countries (CEE), reported the press-centre of Byelorussian Steel Works.

A solemn ceremony of a corresponding award presentation to the representatives of the company (a symbolic golden globe, inserted into perfection pyramid) and a diploma will take place the 6-th of December in Rumania during the 7-th international quality conference of central and eastern European countries.

BMZ became the first of the biggest plants of the Republic that had got a similar award. As a rule, than companies-laureates use their new status for expansion of partnership and new customers attraction.

On the whole, this tournament is rather an effective method of the international benchmarking, which promotes to involve the plants in perfection process and permits to reveal better companies of a CEE region. At the same time, it is a “bridge” between national quality awards of the central and eastern European countries and still more prestige European quality award. It is obligatory recommended to all companies - winners of the tournament to take part in the competition of European quality award.

BMZ was built in 1984. Now a Republican unitary enterprise “Byelorussian Steel Works” is an export oriented plant, its production is supplied almost to 60 countries of the world. Export of commodity output exceeds as a whole 87% in general aggregate output. A plant is specialized in concast billet, structural shapes, reinforcing bar, steel cord. There are 13 thousand people working in the plant.

In BMZ it is planned to produce 2,27 million tons of steel in 2007. It is 2,8 times more than a level of 1991. A fulfillment of nominated plans, including commodity output, permits to get a gain at the rate of 1,4 of milliard of USD dollars. BMZ plans to spend for innovation Br559 milliard in 2007.
