OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2008. Kvazar-Micro Company - one of leading system integrators that work in Eastern Europe and CIS countries - has completed a project of virtual IT infrastructure creation in JSCB Ukrsotsbank, one of largest universal system banks in Ukraine.
 
Completed project became one of the most important bank’s steps on carrying out of complex strategy of IT structure development. We remind that project of strategy development was jointly carried out by specialists of the bank and experts of Kvazar-Micro. In the framework  of this project specialists of Kvazar-Micro carried out appraisal of current state of bank information system, analyzed its possibilities, predicted and studied ways of further development. On basis of this information and also detailed analysis of restrictions and risks Kvazar-Micro proposed several variants of long-term strategy in the field of infrastructure. At that in all proposed models potential requirements of developing banking business, further expansion of list of products and services, increasing of intension and quality of work with customers were considered. Restricting factors of environment were also considered such as: possibilities of raising of areas of data processing centers and their energy equipment. As a result of selection of proposed models the model based on concept of service oriented infrastructure (SOI) was recognized as the most perspective, and virtualization was recognized as the basic technology of its carrying out. Let’s mention that SOI concept is a modern and effective approach to construction of IT structure that meets business requirements in changeable and competitive environment in the fullest extent.
 
In this project Kvazar-Micro provided full spectrum of services for design and implementation of virtual operation environments of standard architecture (x86) on basis of VMware technologies. At that the full rank of components of information system critical for bank’s activities was transferred to virtual environment. We would like to note that methods of virtual environments creation and migration of business-applications to them used at that were developed and tested on prototype system installed in engineering center of Kvazar-Micro. Besides, the project was also based on competences and practical experience of certified specialists of the company in the field of service support of computer systems of different architectures (х86 and RISC), data storage systems and system software.
 
Complex of works carried out by Kvazar-Micro company together with assembling, commutation, adjusting and testing included configuration of the system, disk arrays, system partitions, virtual network infrastructure, services of balancing of computation load, installation of control software, connection to existing systems of physical servers and virtual infrastructure management, connection to existing service of consolidated file backup. Also procedures of file backup and data recovery, procedures of efficiency restoration of the whole complex in emergency conditions were developed and documented. Besides, specialists of the bank studied techniques of virtual structure administration.
 
Application of technologies of servers’ consolidation and virtualization and also implementation of new hardware platform on basis of blade servers, will provide simplification of new applications’ deployment, as well as considerable economic effect including IT services budget. Thus, predicted decrease of power consumption during the next three years will amount to 70%, necessity of expansion of datacenters’ space will be delayed for 5-7 years and approximate start-up time of new operational environment (virtual server) ready for application software deployment will decrease for 80%. Besides owing to application of unified (not depended on operation systems and applications) means of system fault tolerance and decrease of general quantity of equipment, systems’ downtime is decreased and also support work is simplified and load on correspondent specialists is decreased.
