OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2008.Gubakha Coke (Perm Territory, part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK)) has announced a social and cultural project contest with a grant fund of 1 million rubles. The contest in held in 4 nominations: "Sports Courtyard", "Town of Childhood", "Territory of Culture" and "My Dear Town".  Gubakha Coke decided to support public initiatives aiming to develop courtyard areas, involve the youth in meaningful activities, enhance children’s status and implement cultural projects. Priority will be given to the projects that will improve everyday life of the largest number of town residents and address socially relevant town issues. 

While Gubakha Coke chemists have repeatedly donated to the town's educational, sports and cultural institutions, municipal and non-governmental organizations, such a contest is a new initiative.

As the contest is free-for all, any legal entities may enter it: schools; cultural, health and additional training institutions, day care centers and NGO’s. Projects are also accepted from individuals who are interested in arranging useful leisure and improvement of living environment.

"To ensure an absolutely objective project, we’ll invite independent experts from the town and the most active young people", said Gubakha Coke Managing Director Mikhail Zubarev. "What we intend to do is back the most talented organizers of our town. I’m sure that, given financial backing, Gubakha will see interesting and necessary projects implemented".
