OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2008. In January-March, 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 4.204.3 million tonnes (+24.2%, year-on-year). In the reported period, the port handled 2.575.1 million tonnes of dry cargo (+20.7%, year-on-year) including 420,800 tonnes of bulk and loose cargo (up 15.9 times, year-on-year). Transshipment of ore grew 3.9 times to 94,900 tonnes, timber – fell 3.2 times to 257,900 tonnes including 194,100 tonnes of round timber (down 3.5 times) and 63,800 tonnes of sawn timber (down 2.2 times). In the 3-month period the port handled 1.822.2 million tonnes of general cargo (+46.5%) including 1.569.0 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+41.7%), 56,200 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+51.5%), 23,300 tonnes of scrap metal (-36%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo totaled 11,300 tonnes (-8.9%), packaged cargo - 101,400 tonnes (up 2.2 times). The port’s container throughput doubled to 14,535 TEU. Transshipment of oil products amounted to 1.629.2 million tonnes (+30%).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
