OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2008. The international commercial real estate consulting company, Colliers International, acted as an intermediary in the lease by CAT Cargo Logistics of premises with an area of about 2 000 sq.m in the modern, A-class Vievis Logistics Centre in Vievis on the main Vilnius – Kaunas – Klaipeda motorway, reported the press-centre of Colliers International.

Colliers International represented the project developer, Baltijos Statybu Valdymas UAB (BSV), in the negotiations. CAT Cargo Logistics belongs to the CAT Group, an international logistics services provider operating worldwide. CAT Cargo Logistics, whose local subsidiary was established in May 2008, provides a complete set of logistics services, mainly to the automotive industry: international freight forwarding, warehousing, express shipments, deliveries to factories, and customs clearance.

Guillaume SAUZEDDE, CAT Cargo Logistics Director for Central Europe, said ‘The realisation of our company in Lithuania represents the natural expansion of our international network. The development of CAT Cargo Logistics in this promising market is based on the global partnerships existing between our Group and major international key accounts belonging to the automotive sector. The creation of this subsidiary and the warehouse located in Vievis are the backbone of our further growth throughout Lithuania and, by extension, throughout the Baltic States. The Colliers International team understood how strategic this move was for our Group and therefore supported us in a very professional manner.’

Mr Ramunas Zvybas, who is the Colliers International commercial real estate consultant who represented the BSV Group in the negotiations, said that CI's international network and awareness in the world helped to attract the client. This company had already worked with Colliers International in Poland and also expected the services provided in Lithuania to meet international standards. The transaction was concluded smoothly and efficiently, since the client precisely identified the needs the owner had to fulfil. One of the main advantages of the logistics centre is that it is the first logistics centre to be situated next to an overpass on the A1 motorway, which offers convenient passage in any direction necessary, i.e. Vilnius, Kaunas, or Panevezys. And for a company providing logistics services, this is one of the main criteria when choosing premises”.

Baltijos Statybu Valdymas Director Egidijus Urbonas said ’It is extremely important for us that such a famous international logistics service provider as CAT Logistics has chosen our logistics centre. It shows that the premises satisfy the requirements established for warehousing and office premises. The Logistics centre is also attractive due to its location, especially to companies that value convenient access to Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevezys, and Riga. We are very happy with Colliers International which demonstrated speed and professionalism in the transaction, which was concluded in several days’ time.

The new Vievis Logistics Centre was built on a tract of land with an area of 4.1817 ha, that is adjacent to the main Vilnius – Kaunas – Klaipeda motorway and near the Vievis overpass. The warehousing area is over 19 000 sq.m while the office premises are 900 sq.m. An area of 18,144 sq.m has been developed. The logistics centre started operating in late 2007.

Besides CAT cargo logistics, RIMI Lietuva and Girtekos Logistika UAB have also leased premises there.
