OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2008. IBA Gomel conducted a workshop for the students of the Gomel State University (GSU) entitled “Training of IT specialists: opportunities for students”. At the seminar, the participants learnt about key factors of success for Belarusian IT graduates, and unrivalled opportunities to acquire knowledge and experience in cutting-edge products and technologies of the world IT leaders, including IBM, Microsoft, SAP, and Sun Microsystems, reported the press-centre of IBA.

As Belarusian universities provide education in programming and database fundamentals, the seminar was mostly focused on specific technologies and products, as well as the basics of project team work in software development, implementation and maintenance.

Thanks to the IBA and Gomel University joint laboratories and specialized courses, the GSU students have an opportunity to study Java EE, .NET, IBM DB2, IBM Lotus Domino/Notes, SAP ERP, and other technologies and products.

Viktor Levchuk, Head of the Automated Information Processing Systems Department of the GSU, says: “The overcrowded student lecture hall showed an intense interest in the presentations of technologies and products that IBA Gomel uses in its projects. Namely, these technologies are Java and .NET for corporate distributed applications development, Lotus Notes for document workflow automation, SAP for enterprise management system development, and DB2 database servers. With financial and technical assistance of IBA Gomel, the GSU students that study at the department of automated information processing systems and the department of computing mathematics and programming have an opportunity to study these technologies in the course of education.

Thus, the workshop allowed us to sketch the prospects and opportunities for well-qualified graduates in the today’s IT sector”.

IBA Gomel and the Gomel State University have been cooperating since 2001. For IBA, the Gomel State University is a strategic partner and a “source of manpower”.
