OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2008. Naftogaz of Ukraine increased its own gas pumping into underground storages facilities by a factor of 3.1 in the first 5 months of the year compared to the same period a year earlier to 6.5 billion cubic meters, company reported. Before the start of 2008-2009 heating season Naftogaz plans to store 28 billion cubic meters of active gas in underground storage facilities compared to 25.7 billion cubic meters in 2007 and 24.4 billion cubic meters in 2006.

As of June 1, 2008, there are 21.1 billion cubic meters stored in Ukraine's underground storage facilities, 7 billion cubic meters of them are owned by Naftogaz of Ukraine. As of June 1, 2007, these figures stood at 21.5 billion cubic meters and 2.8 billion cubic meters respectively. As of June 1, 2006, they stood at 13.5 billion cubic meters and 2 billion cubic meters correspondingly.

Naftogaz of Ukraine controls 13 underground storage facilities with a total capacity of 32 billion cubic meters.
