OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 July 2008 was announced, that the city authorities of Moscow are to favour the development of the Moscow Metro and plan to have 15 km of new railway lines carved their way in 5 years come.

“Moscow is currently investing in the metro development 9 times as much as it was 4 years ago. The metro stations will appear in Mitino, Kosino, Zhulebino and other townships in 5 years to come. It is planned to have 15 km of new railway lines commissioned,” Vladimir Resin, head of Moscow Construction Complex, said at a theoretical and practical conference on July 9 dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the creation of the management system for the investment and construction complex of Moscow.

According to the official, in connection with the transport problem in Moscow the offstreet transport is gaining in importance.

“The development of the offstreet transport isn’t less important, for example, the small ring railway [of Moscow] is to be transformed into a high-speed line with 35 stations, the first 10 of which are to be constructed in the near future,” Mr Resin noted.

As it was informed earlier, the Moscow Metro is currently overloaded 15-40 per cent on various lines. Its leadership believes that 130 km of new railway lines will keep the metro in normal conditions and make it less busy.
