OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2008. “We are ready to consider the possibilities of cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy,” Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez.

Putin said that the cooperation between Russian companies and the National Power Company of Venezuela could be developed in both bilateral and trilateral formats.

Among the other prospective fields of Russian-Venezuelan cooperation are power engineering, high technologies, machine building and petrochemistry.

“I would like to point out that we are dynamically developing our relations in all directions. We are implementing our agreements and enjoy new opportunities in the sphere of economy,” Putin said.

He thanked Chavez for visiting Russia. “We are pleased that you have found time to visit our country,” Putin said.

He pointed out that Latin America was becoming a significant link in the developing chain of the multi-polar world. “This is obvious and we will pay more and more attention to this direction in our economic and foreign policies,” Putin said.

Chavez said that two months ago he visited Moscow and thanked Putin for the opportunity to come here again.

Chavez said that his previous visit was very fruitful. He pointed out that Venezuela was developing in right direction and that would allow it to stay afloat in the dynamically developing world.

Chavez gave Putin the best regards of Raul Castro and chairman of China Hu Jintao, with whom he met before visiting Russia.
