OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2008. NNEGC Energoatom expects signing a contract on completion of the third and fourth power-generating units of Khmelnytskyi NPP in Q2 2009, company's vice president Volodymyr Bronnikov told an international energy forum in Kyiv.

According to him, a tender with a participant for completion of the power-generating units will be announced in Q1 2009.

Bronnikov confirmed that according to the competition on the type of reactor for new power-generating units, Russian proposal got the most votes. "The competition has finished, on Friday the scientific and technical council of the Ministry of Fuel and Energy should approve this decision," the vice president said.

The government is supposed to make decision on this issue in October.

After that, according to Bronnikov, his company will launch talks with Russian company AtomStroyExport on completion of the power-generating units as well as on possible terms of equipment supplies.

Besides, the vice president said that the company gave the government a package of documents on construction of the centralized storage for waste nuclear fuel (CSWNF).

According to him, the most preferable site for CSWNF construction is the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl NPP.

At present the government should appeal to the parliament for project's approval.
