OREANDA-NEWS  On 31 October was announced, that the Turboatom plant (TATM), Ukraine's largest producer of turbine equipment, and the Skhidenerho power generating company agreed to modernize a 200-megawatt steam turbine at the 10th power unit of the Luhansk thermal power plant.

This is stated in a press-release circulated by Turboatom.

The contract was signed on October 29, and it is worth over UAH 65 million. It provides design, delivery, demolition, construction, assembly, start-up and guarantee test.

Under the contract, Turboatom shall reconstruct the stream turbine including low- and mid- pressure cylinders.

Upgrading turbine blocks will be produced by September 2009. After modernization the capacity of the power unit is projected at 210 megawatt.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Turboatom won a tender on October 10 for modernizing К-200-130 turbines at the 10th power unit of the Luhansk thermal power plant (Luhansk region) and the 7th power unit of the Kurakhivska thermal power plant (Donetsk region) by 2010.

Skhidenerho plans to complete reconstruction of all power units at its thermal power plants by 2016.

Skhidenerho unites Zuyivska, Kurakhivska and Luhansk thermal power plants, and is a part of Donetsk-based Donbas Fuel and Energy Company Corporation. Skhidenerho increased energy supplies by 10.9% or 1.788 billion kilowatt-hour to 18.119 billion kilowatt-hour in 2007 compared with 2006.

Turboatom specializes in production of turbines for thermoelectric and nuclear power stations, hydraulic turbines for hydroelectric power stations and hydro-accumulator power stations, gas turbines for thermoelectric power stations, steam-and-gas equipment, and other energy equipment.

The state owns 75.22% of the shares in Turboatom (these shares are managed by the State Property Fund).
