OREANDA-NEWS  On 14 November was announced, that according to Ukrainian State Statistics Committee, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.7%, m/m in October 2008, exceeding inflation in September (1.1%, m/m). This contributed to cumulative inflation of 18.0% in 10M2008. The main inflation factors were the rise in utilities prices by 4.4%, m/m mainly due to increases in rent and heating prices (10.2% and 13.6%, m/m, respectively) in October, which contributed to around 30% of the overall inflation. Rises in food prices was 1.1%, m/m, mainly due to milk and eggs price growth (5.6%, m/m), which added around 18% to inflation in October. While prices for alcoholic beverages increased by 4.5%, m/m, adding 9% to inflation. 

At the same time PPI declined by 1.4%, m/m in October, mainly due to declines in coke, metallurgy and chemical production by 11.4%, 9.9% and 8.3%, m/m, respectively. This contributed to 32.1% of cumulative PPI in 10M2008.
