OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2008. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received CEO of the Itera Group of Companies Igor Makarov.

Cordially greeting the Turkmen leader and thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting the guest congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on success of the Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2008 Exhibition and the conference Development of Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan that had brought together a great number of participants in the Turkmen capital.

Noting that the traditional forum in Turkmenistan stood as a platform for enhancing business contacts in the strategic oil and gas sector the President said that relying on international co-operation Turkmenistan endeavoured to implement its profound energy potential in the common interests.

The head of the large holding ranking among Turkmenistan’s long-term partners informed the President of the progress of the large-scale investment projects that Itera collaborated in, construction of facilities on the Caspian Sea coast in particular. Specifying the period of construction the guest put forward the proposals to accelerate construction of the hippodrome in the Balkan Velayat.

Showing keen interest in this information Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov specified the top priority tasks to accelerate the joint projects, in particular construction of the stadium in Turkmenabat.

Discussing the joint short-range plans the sides reaffirmed the willingness to maintain close co-operation in the fuel and energy sector. In this context the sides discussed the opportunities of the company’s collaboration in the projects on development of the hydrocarbon deposits in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

In conclusion Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed belief that long-term co-operation would be further built on the principles of mutual confidence, benefit and fulfillment of the mutual obligations.
