OREANDA-NEWS  On 05 December was announced, that Ukrros Sugar Association (UROS), a Kyiv-based company and one of the three largest producers of sugar in Ukraine, plans to increase the area of the land it leases for cultivation of agricultural crops from 70,000 to 110,000 hectares by the year 2010. This is stated in a presentation by the company. The company plans to harvest crops from 90,000 hectares of land in 2009. The company has slightly cut back its plan to expand the area of land it uses for cultivation of agricultural crops in 2008: it now plans to increase the area of the land it uses for cultivation of agricultural crops to 80,000 hectares before the end of 2008 instead of the previously planned 90,000 hectares. Sugar beet accounts for 27% of the total area of land cultivated by the company this season, wheat accounts for 25%, barley 23%, and corn 13%. It plans to harvest 55,000 hectares of crops in 2008. It has thus far harvested 70,000 tons of wheat, and 44,000 tons of barley; the harvesting of corn and sugar beet is continuing (it expects to harvest 30,000 tons of corn and 520,000 tons of sugar beet). Ukrros Sugar Association is a vertically integrated open joint-stock holding company. It controls six sugar refineries and owns more than 10 agricultural enterprises. The company plans to increase the area of the land it uses for cultivation of agricultural crops to 150,000 hectares by the year 2011.
