OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 December 2008 was announced, that in September and December 2008Ingosstrakh paid USD 1 500 000 and USD 735 683 in interim compensation for damage caused to motor vessel (MV) ‘Dobrush’ by collision with ‘MSC Accra’.

‘Dobrush’ was insured by the company against the total loss risks and damages. Shipowner’s liability was not insured by Ingosstrakh.

On April’ 7, 2008 ‘Dobrush’ berthed for the unloading of fertilizing agents at Lagos port (Nigeria)  was severely damaged in its hull as a result of the docking impact of MSC Accra.

At Lagos port MV ‘Dobrush’ was subject to the temporary repair of damages and after its approval by the register the vessel headed for the dockyard at Aljesiras (Spain) for its final repair.

Based on the preliminary estimates made by the surveyors and attorneys the cost of emergency repair of the vessel can exceed USD 4 000 000, including the repair operations as such, towage and port expenditures.

According to Vadim Semenkov, head of the Claims Management Direction at Ingosstrakh, IJSC, Ingosstrakh has an established practice for advance payments for severe losses.
