OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2008. On the outcomes of 11 months of 2008 the sea ports of Ukraine have handled over 122 million tons of cargo which is by 8.3% more against the analogous period of last year. This was announced during a meeting into summing up the outcomes of work of branch enterprises for 2008 by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Volodymyr Rabotnyov.

“The sum paid by the branch enterprises to the budgets of all levels have boosted as compared to the analogous period of last year by 23% and have amounted around 734 million hryvnyas,” Volodymyr Rabotnyov said.

He informed over 42% of cargo flows having passed through Ukrainian sea trade ports contain coal, ore and ferrous metals. At this, 2008 demonstrated significant increase of amounts of handling containers – more than by 21% against 2007.

The highest showings in handling the cargoes were achieved by Odesa (over 31.6 million tons), Pivdennyi (over 19.9 million tons), Illichivsk (17.6 million tons), Mariupol (14.9 million tons) sea ports.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Volodymyr Rabotnyov considers the top-priority task for leaders of sea trade ports appears preserving of present and attracting of new cargo flows by means of their diversification and by more active and flexible cooperation with cargo owners and participants of international market of transport-logistic services.
