OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 March 2009 was announced, that Terry Davis, secretary general of the Council of Europe, opened a new office of the organization in Moscow on February 25.

The former Moscow office of the Council of Europe that has functioned in the Russian capital since 1997 occupied a building of MGIMO (the Moscow State Institute of International Relations) in the southwestern urban district. Now it is based in the Library of Foreign Literature on Kotelnecheskaya Quay, almost in the very heart of Moscow.

“I am very glad about the new mission of the Council of Europe is open,” Mr Davis said.

The secretary general of the Council of Europe added that a budget of the office to be staffed by 7 employees was under discussion.
