NLMK Implements Staff Retraining Programs
OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2009. NLMK announces that it has launched initiatives aimed at retraining its employees. Given the economic downturn, these measures will boost the security of the personnel; help to avoid redundancy measures and train staff to carry out equipment repairs and in-house maintenance.
The programme involves over 760 people from ten core production units of NLMK’s Lipetsk plant who have completed maintenance engineer, electro-gas welder and gas cutter courses. These courses cover classroom training in the Corporate Training Centre and on-site training in production units taught by skilled instructors.
In May the first 230 people will complete their repair and maintenance training and will take part in computer tests. They will then be awarded skill level certificates.
To retain highly qualified staff, and help those who have been made redundant find new jobs, NLMK is implementing an advanced occupational training programme aimed at the training of current staff and those which have been made redundant.
Before the employment contract between the Company and an employee expires, the Company arranges a retraining or advanced training course for other job placements. To this effect, NLMK has developed a syllabus, employed qualified teachers and made its training and production facilities available to employees.
If required, those who have taken part in the training will be employed by the NLMK or by other companies in the region by application through the Lipetsk city employment centre.
