OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2009. Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov signed a decree to purchase 400 heavy-duty vehicles KAMAZ-65115 and spare parts to them to the tune of about 22 million dollars.

The document was signed by the head of the Turkmen State on 25 April after the intergovernmental negotiations with the Tatarstan delegation headed by Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, which had arrived to Ashgabat. Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., participated in the meeting. In the course of the talk the interlocutors exchanged their opinions of promoting arrangements to which they had come earlier and discussed prospects of their further cooperation.

The signed decree extends an imposing list of contracts recently concluded by Turkmenistan with the industrial giant from Naberezhnye Chelny. It should be recalled that at the beginning of the year the parties came to an agreement about delivering 1040 units of automotive equipment to Turkmenistan to the tune of about 100 million dollars. Within the frames of this agreement large batches of multipurpose heavy-duty vehicles have already been delivered to the country. The new contract with KAMAZ will enable to greatly increase production resources of important construction and economic objects of this Central Asian country.

“Nowadays thousands of vehicles of this famous brand which proved to be the best are in the use in various industries of the Turkmen economy”, – said Mr Berdymukhamedov adding that KAMAZ training and service centers are opened in Ashgabat, Mary and Balkan Velayats (regions). Besides, the KAMAZ-Master team will become one of the main participants of the “Silk Way-2009” international motor rally (Kazan-Ashgabat) initiated by Turkmenistan. The rally got the highest status of the Dakar Series and will take place at the beginning of this September.
