OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 June 2009 was announced, that 15,000 new parking spaces are to be created in southern Moscow this year that is a little bit more than in 2008.

According to prefect of Moscow’s southern administrative district, Yury Bulanov, 412,600 vehicles have been registered by the locals while there are only 175,600 off-street parking spaces in the district, including the ones commissioned the year before.

The official said the provision of southern Moscow with parking facilities was 42.6 per cent. Last year 14,569 spaces were created within the program aimed at developing the garages for vehicles.

Mr Bulanov added that the first park and ride lot had been built on Bolshaya Tulskaya Street, the first prefabricated parking garage for 56 vehicles was open on Sevanskaya Street.

Besides, 16 garages with roughly 3,500 parking spaces, including 8 detached ones for 1,571 vehicles, have been erected in the district due to investors.
