OREANDA-NEWS. July 9, 2009. Research Centro Sviluppo Materiali S.p.a (CSM), Italy, provides Uralmash-Engineering (which constitutes a part of MK Uralmash) with information on modern iron-casting technologies.

13 packages specified in the contract scrutinize every unit of continuous casting machine (CCM). With data provided by CSM, MK Uralmash can be referred to as full-fledged manufacturer of modern slab CCM possessing complete technology chain.

Contract implementation has started in May. Execution period is 17 months.

Centro Sviluppo Materiali S.p.a (CSM) specializes in study of iron and steel properties as well as in innovation development and modeling of their production process. Established in 1963 by Italian steel manufacturers the company aims to improve and develop technological base. World manufacturers of complete CCM such as SMS Demag, VAI, Danieli involve CSM in development of production techniques including up-to-date techniques, thin slab and strip casting techniques in particular.

Mr. Vadim Dadyka, General director of Uralmash-Engineering division says: "Our collaboration with CSM will result in state-of-the art CCM that exceeds similar production of world manufacturers at some points. MK Uralmash aims not only to eliminate temporary problems caused by economic depression but to consider its prospects and build-up its competitiveness which is evidenced by the contract implementation."

Mr. Vladimir Busygin, Chief designer of Metallurgical equipment division, MK Uralmash, says: "Along with new properties provided to CCM we will optimize and standardize CCM construction. The contract specifies the most suitable for MK Uralmash format of technology transfer. We will acquire not "black boxes" but complex of standardized data that ensure comprehension of factors determining slab quality".

The contract negotiated is the first phase of cooperation between MK Uralmash and CSM. Agreed principles of cooperation provide for possibility to involve Italian company into specific delivery projects or CCM modernization projects, carried out by MK Uralmash.
