OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2009. In the first six months of 2009, 34 projects and events were implemented with the support of AB.LV Sabiedriska Labuma Fonds: exhibitions of both famous and young artists were supported under the Fund’s programmes, money was donated for development programmes of children and young people, and for rehabilitation programmes for children suffering from chronic diseases, reported the press-centre of AB.LV Sabiedriska Labuma Fonds.

New works were added to the collection of contemporary art being formed in co-operation with Aizkraukles banka, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the Fund and Union ‘Latvian Contemporary Art Museum’. The Fund finances an expert commission that chooses and recommends works for the collection.

AB.LV Sabiedriska Labuma Fonds takes an active part in developing the culture of donation as well. A special Grants Programme ‘Support of NGO Donations Attracting Projects’ has been established. The programme is aimed at providing assistance to Latvian charity organisations in attracting local funding, mostly donations, for implementation of their objectives. One half of the programme grants are covered by the Baltic-American Partnership Fund, and the other half by Aizkraukles banka.

Since early 2009, AB.LV Sabiedriska Labuma Fonds has implemented the project ’Development of Philanthropy 2009 – 2011’ financed by the financial instruments of the European Economic Area and Norway. Its objective is to contribute to development of philanthropy in Latvia, to consolidate the ability of non-governmental organisations to attract local funding and effectiveness of such organisations, as well as to popularise public awareness and understanding of one of the types of philanthropy — corporate philanthropy.

To date, AB.LV Sabiedriska Labuma Fonds collected funds to the amount of nearly a million lats. Part of the funds will be used to implement approved charity events even this year.

AB.LV Sabiedriska Labuma Fonds is a corporate charity facilitating social responsibility of society and business for the people around us and the environment, where we work. The Fund supports creative people and outstanding organisations that direct their efforts and knowledge to achieving goals important to the whole society — to create a strong Latvian state and a united prosperous society. The founders of the Fund are Olegs Fils and Ernests Bernis.
