OREANDA-NEWS. On August 13-14, 2009 Rosatom State Nuclear Power Corporation took part in Convex 2d exercise on information exchange and emergency assistance. The exercise was held by the Incident and Emergency Center of the International Atomic Energy Agency and involved the competent authorities of IAEA member states.

The Russian delegation comprised representatives of the Nuclear Safety Institute, the Federal Medical Bio-Physical Center of the Federal Medical Biological Agency, the Emergency Center of the Ministry of Atomic Energy of Russia (St.Petersburg), Izotop and the Crisis center of Rosatom.

The objective of the exercise was to improve methods of emergency response and emergency assistance. The trainees used different means of communications, particularly, the web-site of the IAEA.

Head of the Information Support Center of the Nuclear Safety Institute Igor Osipyants says that such exercises are conducted regularly with a view to ensure effective cooperation among highly professional experts and different international organizations in responding to emergencies.
