OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2009. Barclays offers Nikolai Tsekhomsky the position of CEO, Global Retail and Commercial Banking in Russia. This appointment is subject to approval from the Central Bank of Russia, reported the press-centre of Barclays.

Nikolai will join Barclays from VTB (the second largest bank in Russia) where he has worked for the past four years as CFO. Nikolai has also been a member of VTB's Executive Board since 2007.

Prior to joining VTB, Nikolai was Group CFO of Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) the largest telecommunications company in Russia. He joined MTS from Renaissance Capital where he held the positions of Finance Director and Finance Controller. Nikolai has also worked for Ernst & Young in London and St Petersburg.

Nikolai has an MA in Production Management and a PHD in Economics from the St. Petersburg Academy for Engineering and Economics.

The announcement of this offer follows the resignation of Sergey Radchenkov who has decided to leave Barclays. Sergey has led the Russian team since Barclays acquisition of Expobank in July 2008.

Sergey will continue to lead Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Banking team in Russia until the required regulatory approval has been received for the appointment of Nikolai.
