OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Paolo Scaroni, CEO of ENI – the world-renowned Italain oil and gas company at the Westin Excelsior Hotel in Rome.

Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting the ENI CEO congratulated the Turkmen leader on the success of the Turkmen-Italian forum, which had taken place in the first half of the day in Rome, and emphasized that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s speech had drawn a wide response among the Italian business circles. In this regard Mr. Paolo Scaroni informed of his company’s willingness to establish mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkmenistan as the country with the profound energy potential endeavouring to develop an active dialogue with foreign partners. The ENI CEO said that the open door policy, the favourable investment climate made the Turkmen market extremely attractive for the large world and European business. Mr. Paolo Scaroni focused on the significance of the Turkmen leader’s initiative on security of pipeline infrastructure as an essential factor for the consistent development of international energy cooperation. As is known, this initiative embodied in the Special Resolution of the United Nations had been supported by global community

Reaffirming Turkmenistan’s commitment to the policy of constructive international cooperation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that implementing the strategy for technology modernization of the fuel and energy sector and diversification of transit of Turkmen energy to world markets the country relied on adoption scientific and technological advances that the ENI Company could offer to Turkmen partners. The leader of the Turkmen state noted that the profound experience, innovations and advanced technologies of the largest consortium of Italy could be effectively used in Turkmenistan that had launched the large-scale fuel and energy projects.

The President of Turkmenistan the ENI CEO discussed the prospects for bilateral partnership and specified the priority fields. In this context Mr. Paolo Scaroni emphasized that his company stood ready to offer its potential and technologies in various sectors of fuel and energy industry including oil and gas exploration, production and processing to Turkmen partners.

Welcoming such a constructive approach to cooperation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited ENI to collaborate in the investment projects where concerting efforts based on the mutual potential could be quite effective.

Welcoming this proposal with enthusiasm Mr. Paolo Scaroni thanked the Turkmen leader for friendliness and said that the Italian company was ready for close cooperation with Turkmenistan on a long-term basis.

In conclusion the President of Turkmenistan and the ENI CEO expressed belief this meeting in Rome would be the prologue of the further effective business dialogue meeting mutual interests.
