OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2010. The Committee informs that by early December 2009 they received 198 complaints on the occasion of shareholder rights infringement by 347 joint-stock companies (JSCs) versus 215 complaints against 331 companies by 1st December 2008.

“Year-on-year number of complaints reduced by 7.9%, while quantity of JSCs to which complaints related grew by 4.8%,” it was informed.

Simultaneously volume and quantity of penalty sanctions increased as well.

“By December 2009 sanctions for AZN 48,950 were applied towards 195 JSCs versus AZN 14,080 towards 63 companies by 1st December 2008,” the Committee said.

Year-on-year penalty volume rose by 247.7% and number of fined JSCs by 209.5%.

In 2008 the country registered more than 200 complaints on violations in over 300 JSCs.
