OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2010. Machine-building corporation URALMASH  concluded contracts with ArcellorMittal, the largest steel making company in the world, in Kazakhstan and Poland for supply of 2300 t of rolls in 2010.

Backup rolls for hot- and cold-rolling mills and work rolls for cold-rolling mills will be supplied for ArcellorMittal Temirtau (Kazakhstan); work rolls for hot-rolling mills will be supplied for Polish plants Krolewska and Dabrowa Gornicza.

The contracts have been signed as per tender results in which MK Uralmash won a competition with Ukrainian and Chinese enterprises.

" We have been cooperating with ArcellorMittal plants for a long time, and as per the results of negotiations we are planning to increase sales requirements regarding rolls and metallurgical equipment also for other enterprises of the group. The fact that the enterprises in Poland and Kazakhstan have placed orders for the major amount of annual requirements with us confirms high quality of our product and confidence in MK Uralmash", pointed out Juri Khlopotunov, Director of Metallurgical Equipment Division.

At present export sales of rolls exceed 60%. Among Uralmash customers are enterprises in Poland, China, Kazakhstan, India, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Macedonia, Luxemburg, Turkey and Bulgaria. In future we are also planning to sign contracts with Belgium, Romania, Algeria and Ukraine.

MK Uralmash produces steel forged rolls of four types - backup and work rolls for hot- and cold-rolling, made of 2-3% Cr and 5% Cr steels. They are used in rolling mills producing various typed of rolled metal - from thinnest tin and foil to thick plate and large billets.

Uralmashplant has a complete production cycle for manufacturing of rolls including steel melting, forging, heat treatment and machining, including machining on high-precision roll-grinding machines. In accordance with investment program for 2009-2012 MK Uralmash plans to modernize production facilities for roll manufacture, in particular 10 000 t press, section of differential heat treatment of backup rolls for hot- and cold-rolling, modernization and major repair of machines.
