OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2010. The largest Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avize has published an interview with Valeri Belokon, the main shareholder of Baltic International Bank.  The interview is entitled “Valeri Belokon Embarks on Building a City”, reported the press-centre of BIB.

Valeri Belokon described his perception of the current political and economic situation in Latvia and made suggestions on how to steer the country out of the crisis.

The businessman expressed his opinion that politicians should not mouth beautiful slogans. To the contrary, they should search for ways to create new jobs. As far as Valeri Belokon is concerned, that is what he is doing right now. Valeri Belokon unveiled plans for his new project intended to build a small city and to deploy a citywide infrastructure. “The city is meant neither for the rich nor for the poor. It is meant for those who would like to live in a different way and in an orderly manner,” Valeri Belokon said.

Valeri Belokon commented his relationships with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and also with Einars Repse, the current Finance Minister of Latvia. In conclusion, Valeri Belokon outlined the reasons behind his decision to publish the first Encyclopaedia of Latvia (published in 2002).
