OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2010. Railroad Transport Division of Mikhailovksy GOK (subsidiary of Metalloinvest Holding) has acquired three new NP-1 series electric locomotives according to mining transport development strategy.

First locomotives of this series by Novocherkassky electric building plant were acquired by MGOK in 2005 and proved their high efficiency in mining production. Now MGOK uses 8 locomotives.

New models have a lot of improvements in engines and control systems, driver’s cab has modern air conditioning and noise insulation systems and special windshield warming system for winter conditions. New locomotives are highly reliable and easy in maintenance.

Locomotives will transport the mined rock in the open pit. The construction has already began and operations will start soon.
