RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2010. Over the week of March 15 – March 19, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 0.65% to reach 1,544.71 points (1,534.68 points as of March 12, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (plus 11.70 points) followed by ordinary shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGSS) (plus 5.98 points) and ordinary shares of JSC Gazprom Neft (SIBN) (plus 1.49 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 0.26% to reach 9,786.52 points (9,760.81 points as of March 12, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 2.76% closing at 1,751.63 points (1,704.55 points as of March 12, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 2.87%. A significant increase was also shown by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index gaining 2.57%. A decline was demonstrated by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index shedding 1.08%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.01% against the ruble to reach 29.22 rubles per US dollar (29.52 rubles as of March 12, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of March 15 – March 19, 2010 equaled USD11.58 billion (339.57 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,921.14 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,077.28 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD311.88 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD192.64 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 53.47%, 15.48% and 9.56% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-6" (OGKF) that went up by 21.31% to USD0.037 followed by ordinary shares of IDGC of Centre, JSC (MRKC) – by 19.82% to USD0.0399 and ordinary shares of JSC "Yenisei TGC (TGC-13)" (TGKM) – by 14.53% to reach USD0.0041.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) that fell 4.24% to reach USD7.9 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) that lost 2.92% to reach USD4.32 and ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZP) that shed 2.36% to reach USD5.8.
