OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2010. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) informs that this February cards turnover in Azerbaijan reached AZN 293 million against AZN 293 million in January 2010 and AZN 635 million in December 2009.

“For Jan-Feb turnover totaled AZN 787 million versus AZN 5.457 bn in 2009,” it was reported.

Cards turnover made up AZN 4.27 bn in 2008 and AZN 2.6 bn in 2007.

Following this February it was conducted 6.277 million transactions through 4.049 million active cards.

In 2009, it was carried out 45.299 million transactions via 3.974 million active cards.

In 2008, 40.111 million transactions were conducted through cards. Following 2008, 3.626 million cards, issued by local banks, were active.

For Jan-Feb 2010, 5.947 million transactions for AZN 703 million were conducted via debit cards and 330,000 transactions for AZN 84 million via credit cards.

In 2009, 43.306 million transactions AZN 4.925 bn were carried out through debit cards and 1.99 million transactions for AZN 532 million through credit cards.

As of 1st March 2010 exchange rate of national currency was AZN 0.8034 to the US dollar.
