OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2010. Specialists from Buguruslanneft (part of Orenburgneft, a subsidiary of TNK-BP) have drawn up a set of measures to control the floodwater situation in their area, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

All of Buguruslanneft’s sections and subdivisions are now fully equipped with everything they will need in the event of “high water”.

“Each subdivision has its own area of responsibility”, says Sergey Varnikov, head of the pipeline operation and maintenance shop. “Our task is to carry out continuous monitoring of the water crossings, so that we can be on site as soon as possible if anything happens and do what is necessary to stop any oily liquid getting into the river channels. To do this we’ve set up an oil contamination liquidation team that patrols all the water crossings twice a day.

According to Varnikov, the team is now 100% ready to tackle situations of any degree of complexity. All the necessary equipment is now fully prepared: boats, devices for removing oil film from the water surface, life vests and other types of protective clothing.
