OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2010. The price of the gasoline Ai-1995 fell by 0.2 leis - from 14,4 up to 14,2 leis per liter. The cost of the diesel fuel has not changed, remaining at a rate of 12.5 leis per liter. Previous price change in Moldova was registered on April 17, when the cost of the gasoline grew from 13,9 up to 14,4 leis per liter and the price of the diesel fuel - from 12,1 up to 12,5 leis, respectively.

According to InfoMarket, last week the leaders of the companies – oil products importers have met with the Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, who noted that the oil importers of Moldova very quickly react to the increase in the world oil prices. It was noted that this is due to the necessity to provide energy security of Moldova which does not have its own oil reserves. The companies constantly monitor the situation and change their prices not only depending on the global conditions but taking into account the available stocks.

At the same time, the importers stressed that they have no interest in raising prices, because it entails a decrease in sales. The price formation is also affected by the exchange rate dynamics - the calculations at the international market are quoted in U.S. dollars and in relation to this currency a slight devaluation of leu is observed- the commercial rate of U.S. dollar on Monday amounted to 12,75 leis (vs. the official exchange rate of 12.5877 leis).

Since the beginning of the year, the gasoline price has increased by 19,3% and the cost of the diesel fuel - by 18%, respectively. On January 4 the prices has grown by an average 7%. The price of Ai-95 gasoline has increased by 0.8 leis (6,7%) – from 11,9 up to 12,7 leis per liter, the cost of the diesel fuel - by 0.8 leis (7,5%) – from 10.6 up to 11 4 leis per liter.

On February 10 the prices grew by about 8%: the cost of the gasoline grew by 1 leu - from 12.65 up to 13.65 leis (Ai-95), the price of the diesel fuel - by 0.8 leis - from 11.35 up to 12.15 leis. On March 22 the price of the gasoline increased by 0,25 leis (2%)- up to 13.9 leis per liter, while the cost of diesel has not changed. On April 17 the price of the gasoline grew up to 14,4 leis; and the cost of the diesel fuel - up to 12,5 leis.
