A seminar/conference on environmental issues with participation of Andrey Kalaida, Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources for the Issues of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, Nurislam Habipov, Head of Department for Environmental Management and Ecology of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of Rosprirodnadzor, Rospotrebnadzor, relevant Services of Almetyevsk and Almetyevsk Region and industrial enterprises was arranged in Kichuy village (Almetyevsk Region of the Republic of Tatarstan). The event was attended by environmental service managers of OAO TATNEFT and its structural divisions, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

The Almetyevsk Municipal District is one of the leaders in the Republic in solving environmental issues, due to its efficient, focused environmental activity. Considerable assistance to the Almetyevsk Municipal District in the field of the environment conservation is rendered by oilmen.

The seminar discussed nature conservation measures carried out by OAO TATNEFT in 2009-2010 in the territory of Almetyevsk and Almetyevsk Region and objectives for the coming year.
Activities of OAO TATNEFT in the field of environmental safety are performed in accordance with the Federal Law "On Environmental Protection" and comply with all applicable environmental rules and regulations, taking into account requirements of the documents of the international, federal and regional levels. The activities are being implemented in accordance with the policy of OAO TATNEFT in the fields of industrial safety, health and environment protection and in the framework of a special prolonged Environmental Program of OAO TATNEFT intended for the period from 2000 to 2015, and they also rely on the proactive Company's understanding of the need to improve the environmental situation in the territory of OAO TATNEFT, its subsidiaries and affiliates activities.

In addition to the actual environment preservation work and fulfillment of the range of technical/technological and organizational measures to ensure the environmental safety of oil production, OAO TATNEFT performs a lot of work to improve the sanitary and environmental situation in the territories of its activity. Weighty part of the activities falls on Almetyevsk Municipal District and the city of Almetyevsk.

Thanks to the efforts of OAO TATNEFT's structural units extensive work on replacement of water mains, hot water lines, water and heat supply facilities improvement and asphalting of the territories in their designated areas of the city councils of local governance is carried out. In 2009-2010 drinking water supply systems were renovated and constructed in 10 inhabited localities of Almetyevsk Region totaling over 70 million rubles.

In addition, the oilmen executed reclamation of abandoned quarries in the settlements of Kichuy and Rozhdestvenka and rehabilitated animal burials in the villages of Kichuchatovo, Buta, D. Yamashy. The information about the ways of their development in compliance with environmental requirements and standards was presented to the participants with demonstration of the example of similar facilities located near Kichuy village. There was also demonstrated a solid waste landfill.

For the purpose of creating supportive environment in the area of OAO TATNEFT's activity a Special Program of planting greenery on the strips along public roads and oil field roads is being implemented in the oil regions of the Republic of Tatarstan. In the framework of this program OAO TATNEFT has planted more than 395,000 seedlings since 2000 including more than 43 thousand ones planted in 2009.

Currently OAO TATNEFT has responded to the proposal of the Almetyevsk Municipal District Administration and decided to landscape the area adjacent to Kaleykino pumping station.

Andrey Kalaida, Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources for the Issues of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted the improvement of ecological situation in the area of Almetyevsk, which is the capital of oilmen, and highly appraised the ecological and environmental activities of the oilmen.
