Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Implements Development Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. Within 6 months of 2010 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred over 583 mln. rubles for the implementation of port infrastructure development programme.
About 538 mln. rubles were transferred for the modernization of the facilities of the container terminal (annual capacity - 345 000 TEUs) on territory of Fourth Stevedoring Company. The construction of reefer racking and storm water sewerage systems has been completed. The construction of water treatment facilities is being completed. As the final stage of construction the metal structures of entry check-point and utility systems in the maintenance center are being assembled. Commissioning works of sewerage pump station are carried out. Arrangement of pavement with artificial base has been recommenced.
181 mln. rubles were transferred for the purchase of the equipment for the container terminal. In July 2 ship-to-shore cranes were delivered to the terminal. In the first half of this year main part of the other equipment was delivered (port tractors, stackers for empty containers, container trailers, 40’ roll-trailers and other auxiliary equipment).
Over 22 mln. rubles were transferred for the technical equipment of the stevedoring companies of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (low power networks were assembled; security, fire fighting, access control and surveillance systems were installed).
Over 21 mln. rubles were transferred for the construction of the new storage grounds and for renovation of berths. On the territory where the former warehouses Nr. 9 and 10 of “Second Stevedoring Company” were located the construction of new storage grounds are being completed These storage grounds will make it possible to handle over 200 thousand tons of general cargoes per year.
Over 3 mln. rubles were transferred for the designing of refrigerated terminal with the annual capacity of 1.5 mln. tons and sanitary and ecological survey of the design area on the territory of the first and the second areas of the port. Putting into operation of new reefer capacities and warehouses for storage of vegetable and fruits will make it possible to handle cargoes preserving high quality of foodstuffs and their compliance with the European sanitary norms.

The development programme of port infrastructure of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisages the construction of specialized handling facilities on the territory of the stevedoring companies, included in UCL Holding, which will make it possible to increase the handling turnover of the holding up to 20 mln. tons per year and attract the more profitable cargo flows to all divisions of the holding.
