OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2011. Vnukovo International has put in place extra security procedures and measures as part of its Emergency (terrorism threat) Response Plan. All the Airport's divisions and services charged with on-airport public security, have been ordered to remain on high alert and maintain particular vigilance throughout Vnukovo's public-access and key operating areas. The Airport's entire operational shift has been instructed to continue work in full-alert mode as well.

Comprehensive security screening of all the incoming air travelers, meeters, senders, and visitors, as well as that of their baggage and personal effects with the aid of walk-through and portable metal detectors, and x-ray scanners, has been deployed at every entrance to Vnukovo's mainline passenger terminals. Likewise, security and controlled access procedures have been stepped up along the Airport's entire perimeter, in the forecourt area, and at a number of ongoing construction projects both on the Airport and in its vicinity. Extra security precautions and additional on-board screening and checks are being carried out prior to flights' departure from and upon their arrival at the Airport.

Vnukovo International stands ready to accept any flight diversions that might be called for under the circumstances. Additional aircraft stands are being readied for this purpose. The Airport's customer service staff numbers have likewise been bolstered to accommodate any surplus passengers from diverted flights.

Sincere condolences from all of us here at Vnukovo International to the people whose loved ones and friends have been affected by the accident.
