OREANDA-NEWS. March 10, 2011. Belarus’ state foreign debt went up 9% on the month in January 2011 to USD 10.557 billion as of February 1, 2011, an official with the Finance Ministry stated.

The government’s long-term debt accounted for 98% of the total foreign debt in January 2011, up from 97.9% in December 2010, government’s short-term debt for 0%, no change, and foreign loans to companies’ against the government’s security for 2%, down from 2.1%.

In 2010, the foreign debt increased 22.8% to USD 9.687 billion.

Belarus’ main creditors are the IMF, Russia, Venezuela, Germany, the U.S. and the World Bank.
