OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2011. Recently, WISCO takes the initiative in successfully developing corrosion resistant rail at home, with all the properties reaching targets and qualified for trail laying test, reported the press-centre of WISCO.

The Transportation Bureau of MOR held a technology seminar for WISCO’s corrosion resistant rail U68Cu-Cr. In the seminar, experts agreed that the U68Cu-Cr project had accurate initiative, reasonable alloy design proposal for corrosion resistant rail, and all the properties indexes reached expected targets. It was suggested that WISCO should carry on trial laying test with U68Cu-Cr which marked the development work has gained interim progress.

Along with the fast advancing national railroading, it gets increasing attention on rail’s corrosion resistant trouble, however, there are still not materials and application technologies which are relatively mature and could be completely industrialized. In recent years, based on multi-batch research on corrosion resistant rail, WISCO is proactively engaged in cooperation with Central Iron and Steel Research Institute, taking the initiative to develop the new generation corrosion resistant rail U68Cu-Cr, which is not only characterized by fine grain, high strength and excellent ductility, but also by superior corrosion resistant performance than that of same strength.
