OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2011. JSC Mikron, the leading microelectronics manufacturer and exporter in Russia and CIS, presented Russian semiconductor industry on GSA EMEA Leadership Council in Munich, Germany.

“Mikron” is a member of EMEA Leadership Council. This year Council themed as “Prosperity through Innovation: Capitalising on Emerging Markets, Applications & Growth Opportunities”. Mikron’s Deputy Director General for marketing Andrei Golushko has presented report “Russian semiconductor industry: current situation and perspectives”.

Regarding the results of Council A. Golushko said: “Foreign interest to Russian market is growing up, for example more than 40 companies from 10 countries were equipment and materials suppliers and partners in infrastructure creation within Mikron’s 8’ Fab project implementation. In 2010 Russian semiconductors market’s share was less than 1% of worldwide market, but Russian market could increase more than 10 times if the right way of development to be chosen, and this is understood by our abroad colleagues”.

“Foreign companies are considering possibilities of location of their production and R&D centers in Russia. It concerns low geopolitical risks compared to other BRICS members and strong cultural relationship between Russia and Europe. Besides through a half-a-century Russian semiconductors history has been formed essential infrastructure base and now industry connections are recovering, especially SC Mikron forms industry cluster of microelectronics, connecting design-centers, R&D, education and other companies of semiconductor industry” – Andrei Golushko said.
