OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2011. Freight One has sent its first group of wagons via a restored railroad bridge to be loaded with aluminum from Sayanogorsk Aluminum Smelter in Khakassia. About 220 Freight One wagons arrived at the plant from June 5—13 to be loaded with aluminum. The set of wagons is also being used to make deliveries of alumina, petroleum coke and pitch to the plant. The wagons loaded with aluminum are currently being cleared through customs and being prepared for departure. A group of Freight One boxcars is currently standing at the approach to the smelter awaiting loading with more than 3500 tons of aluminum. Freight One continually monitors the traffic to ensure timely and complete deliveries of raw materials to the smelter and removal of aluminum from it.

We remind you that supports of a railway bridge collapsed on May 7 on the segment between Kamyshta and Alyuminievaya owned by a company called Department of Temporary Operation in Khakassia, interrupting traffic between Kamyshta station of the Krasnoyarsk Railway, which services the smelter’s freight operations. The main freight handling has been transferred to stations adjacent to Kamyshta station, with subsequent delivery of raw materials to the plant by trucks.

Despite difficulty getting rolling stock to the plant, Freight One delivered 96 wagons of raw materials to the plant in just the first two weeks after the interruption according to a temporary scheme. Meanwhile, there were up to 700 Freight One wagons at the near and far approaches to the aluminum plant.
