OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2011. The Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Anatolii Salaru said 321.5 million leis had been spent for maintenance and current repairs of public roads, 5.8 million leis – road repairs, 6.3 million leis – project works. Anatolii Salara said all planned national road repair works are being carried out without serious departures from a schedule.

According to him, all foreign contractors that won tenders for road repairs in Moldova will complete the works for 18 months. It was reported earlier that the Road Fund in 2011 was approved in the amount of about 787.98 million leis. Over 583.3 million leis of the Fund’s total money is intended for national roads and 204.68 million leis – for local roads.

The most part of funds – 331.78 million leis – will be spent for maintenance and current repair of public roads. About 120 million leis will be used to purchase special road equipment, machines to provide high-quality repairs and maintenance of roads. this year, the following national roads will be repaired: Chisinau-Leuseni – border with Romania (23.5 million leis allocated), Tiraspol-Causeni-Cimislia (25 million leis), Anenii Noi-Causeni-Stefan Voda – border with Ukraine (41 million leis), Anenii Noi-Causeni-Stefan Voda (bypass Causeni, 20.3 million leis), Calaras-Lozova-Hincesti (18 million leis), Floresti-Vadeni (12 million leis), Dondiusani-Sudarca (10 million leis), Ciadir-Lungar-Congaz (Baurci-Congaz highway) (!0 million leis), Floresti-Nicolaevca-Singerei (9 million leis) and others.

About 40 million leis from the Road Fund will be used to provide road traffic safety – road marking, road signs. It was reported earlier that in 2011 about 70% of the road repairs and maintenance works in Moldova would be financed through the auctions. In 2010, the Road Fund totaled about 583 million leis. 134 million leis were allocated for road repairs. The Road Fund’s money is accumulated at the expensed of excise taxes on oil products import and road taxes. According to the statistics, over 90% of national and 95% of local roads of Moldova need urgent repairs.
