Kalinin NPP: Unit 4 Turbine Put on Barring
OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2011. At 00:15 one of the most important stages of pre-startup program – barring of the turbine – was passed on the construction site of Unit 4 of Kalinin NPP.
The main objective of this operation was to check on alignment of the through section of the turbine, match of axes and centerline of the turbine generator shaft, and its compliance with design requirements.
At the preparatory stage the works which ensure availability of the mechanical and electrical equipment, all supporting systems, including oil supply system of the turbine and generator, were carried out.
The next item of the list of startup operations at Unit 4 is vacuum buildup in the turbine. This operation should be accomplished by the start of the first power activities.
