Number of airBaltic Passengers in October Increased in Riga Base
OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2011. Latvian national airline airBaltic carried 290,829 passengers in October 2011 (from Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn), representing 5% increase comparing with the same month in 2010, when airBaltic transported 277,256 passengers. In October this year, the number of passengers at the base of airBaltic in Riga has increased by 8% compared to the same period last year.
Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “The passenger number has continued to grow even while airBaltic operated fewer flights in October compared to last year. As to the future, we are now very carefully evaluating potential development scenarios for airBaltic, in order to come up with a new strategic business plan in February.”
During the ten months of 2011, airBaltic transported a total of 2,951,912 passengers, or 6% more than during the same period in 2010, when the total number of passengers was 2,796,580.
In October airBaltic operated 4,467 flights or 1% less than in October 2010, when airBaltic operated 4,528 flights. Between January and the end of October, the airline provided 48,391 flights in all.
The airline’s load factor, which represents the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of available seats, in October 2011 was at a level of 79% - or 6% points more than in October 2010. During the first ten months of 2011 the airline’s load factor was at a level of 75% or 6% points more than in the same period last year.
The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was at a level of 89.0% in October 2011. This means that 89 of every 100 airBaltic flights in October departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.
