OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2012. Citizens and businesses in 2011 saved about 490 million UAH owing to the efficiency of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on socially important markets. This was started by Acting Chairman of Antimonopoly Committee Rafael Kuzmin during a press conference.

In 2011, the bodies of the Committee received and worked up nearly 5 thousand statements about violations of competition law.

As Rafael Kuzmin informed, bodies of the Committee stopped about 4.5 thousand violations of competition legislation, it is on 37.2% more than in 2010.

Size of fines is about 42 million UAH. Along with that, "The primary task of the Committee is to protect the interests of citizens of Ukraine and provide fair competition, so the main things for us is to stop violations" - the acting Chairman of the Committee said.

Bodies of the Committee analyzed about 3.2 thousand regulations that could affect economic competition, and provided nearly 3.5 thousand recommendations to promote competition and prevent monopolization of markets to power and local governments.

As Rafael Kuzmin said, feature of last year was the comprehensive verifications, in which also was involved the whole system of the Committee. These checks affected markets administrative, utilities, electricity and gas supply, compressed and liquefied gas, food (vegetables, eggs, dairy products). In particular, the bodies of the Committee checked about 4 thousand state agencies and entities that provide administrative services, and made about 3 thousand checks in the housing and communal area on the activities of condominiums.

In 2012, the Committee is going to conduct extensive market research of medical services and medicines, petroleum products and liquefied gas, some banking services, building materials, food, services provide places for food trade, customs services provided in paragraphs zones and customs control services required technical control of vehicles in the areas of land relations, the construction of housing and so on.

The final report of the Antimonopoly Committee is refined and will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in March of this year, as it is provided by law.
