OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2012. In January-December 2011, the gross agricultural output of Uzbekistan reached 19.634 trillion soums or grew by 6,6% year-on-year, of which output of plant-growing – 11.347 trillion soums (+6%) and animal husbandry - 8.286 trillion soums (+7.6%).

In the structure of production of gross agricultural output, the share of dekhkan farms was 63.7% (in January-December 2010 – 62.9%), private farms – 34.1% (35%), agricultural enterprises – 2.2% (2.1%).

Plant-growing
In the reporting year the share of plant growing production in total agricultural output was 57.8% (in 2010 – 59.4%).

According to the preliminary data, in 2011 the total sown area in farms of all types was 3.601 million hectares.

The area under grains was 1.607 million hectares or fell by 4.2% compared to January-December 2010, of which under wheat – 1.433 million hectares (-2.3%).

The area under cotton was 1.329 million hectares, which decreased by 1% compared to January-December 2010.

The area under potatoes has increased by 4.1%, vegetables by 1.4%. The area under melons and gourds has decreased by 4.1%, forage crops by 1.9%.

In January-December 2011, farms of all types produced 7.14 million tonnes of grains in weight before treating, including 6.703 million tonnes of spiked cereals, 6.527 million tonnes of which were wheat.

There were produced 1.862 million tonnes of potatoes (10% more than in the corresponding period of 2010), 6.994 million tonnes of vegetables (+10.2%), 1.295 million tonnes of melons and gourds (+9.5%), 1.871 million tonnes of fruit and berries (9.4%), and 1.09 million tonnes of grapes (10.4%).

Animal husbandry
In January-December 2010, the share of animal husbandry production in total agricultural output was 42.2%.

As of 1 January 2012, the population of cattle in farms of all types was 9.642 million and increased by 548,800 heads or 6%.

The population of cows has increased by 114,600 (or by 3%), sheep and goats by 846,600 (or by 5.5%), poultry by 4.999 million (or by 13.2%).

The population of cattle (including cows), sheep and goats, poultry has increased in all regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In total population, the share of cattle in dekhkan farms was 93.7% and in private farms – 5.3%, cows – 94.7% and 4.5%, sheep and goats – 80.5% and 7.4%, pigs – 79.5% and 8.5%, poultry – 60.3% and 11.6% respectively.

In 2011 farms of all types produced 1.564 million tonnes of meat in living weight (7% more than in 2010), 6.766 million tonnes of milk (+9.7%), 3.442 billion eggs (+12.5%), 28,700 tonnes of wool (+8.2%), 1.022 million pieces of karakuls (+9.3%).

The share of dekhkan farms in total production of meat was 94.7%, milk – 96%, eggs – 54.5%, wool – 84.4%, karakuls – 63%.

Private farms
In January-December 2011, the volume of gross output of private farms was 6.702 trillion soums or grew by 4.4% year-on-year.

The share of private farms in total gross agricultural output was 34.1%. The total area of lands allotted to private farms was 5.841 million hectares.

As of 1 January 2012, private farms had 507,200 heads of cattle (including 174,000 cows), 1.203 million heads of sheep and goats, and 4.974 million heads of poultry.

In comparison with 1 January 2011, the number of cattle has increased by 5,500 (or by 1.1%), cows – by 1,400 (+0.8%), sheep and goats – by 53,400 (+4.6%), and poultry – by 1.016 million (+25.7%).
