OREANDA-NEWS. On the 23 of March 2012 the container train on the route Klaipeda-Moscow will be launched (operator of the train is the company „AAA Intermodal“). It is planned that this train will run regular service – once per week, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.

The projected capacity of this train is 114 TEU per week and the distance between Klaipeda and Moscow is to be covered in 2 days. Furthermore, the train will avoid jams at the board between countries. This project was initiated by the company “AAA Intermodal” in cooperation with railways of Lithuania, Belarus and Russia.

Shipping containers will be loaded on railway platforms in terminals operating in Klaipeda Port, i.e. Klaipeda Container Terminal, container terminal of “Klaipedos Smelte” and Ro–Ro terminal of KLASCO ferry terminal. The train will be stacked in “Draugyste” railway station and leave the station regularly once per week (on Fridays). In Russia the train will be served in Moscow “Ecodor” container terminal, as well as in Silikatnaja railway station.

While modelling the container freight “door-to-door” via Siliktanaja railway station to the “Ecodor” terminal the fact that “AAA Intermodal” has concluded the contract with the terminal, the nearest location of the potential clients and interest demonstrated by shipping lines were taken into consideration. Another factor that has determined the partnership with the “Ecodor” terminal is that application of the strong potential of the company “Russkaja Troika” results into the possibility to model the link with industrial region of Russia Siberia, namely with Novosibirsk and the Far Eastern Ports of Vladivostok and Nachodka. It is anticipated that this link will be relevant to European undertakings turning their sights “deeper into Russia”. Obvious advantages of the “Ecodor” terminal are also related with certified container and locomotive repair base located in this terminal.
