OREANDA-NEWS. May 2, 2012. Belarus’ retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 5.6% on the year in January-February 2012 to 24.429 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 3.05 billion at the central bank’s rate), an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Sales by public catering organizations grew 1.3% to 1.352 billion rubles.

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 79.8%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the rest.

Belarusian-made consumer goods accounted for 74.7% of the retail trade turnover. The share of Belarusian foodstuffs was at 83.9%, Belarusian non-foods at 61.4% in retail trade.

The share of private companies in the total retail turnover was at 82.8% (85.5% the year before), state companies 11.5% (10.5%), while the share of foreign companies stood at 5.7% (4%).
